Vinyl & laminate flooring in St. Augustine, FL
If you're looking for a flooring option that's practical, durable, and easy to maintain, vinyl and laminate are two of the most popular choices. At Amazing Floors Florida, we install vinyl and laminate flooring for homes and businesses in St. Augustine, FL and nearby areas. Whether you're updating one room or your entire space, we'll help you choose the right option and handle the installation from start to finish.

Is vinyl or laminate right for your space?
Vinyl and laminate flooring are both designed to give you a clean, updated look without a lot of maintenance. They work well in living areas, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, and high-traffic spaces. If you want something that's easy to clean, and holds up to everyday use, these are usually solid options.

Learn moreSheet vinyl
Sheet vinyl is available in large rolls, cut to fit your space for a smooth, nearly seamless finish. It's known for its durability and water resistance, which makes it an option for kitchens, bathrooms, and other moisture-prone areas. Roll widths of 12 or 13'2" mean many rooms can be covered with little to no seams.
A few things worth knowing: sheet vinyl can dent or tear from heavy furniture or sharp objects, and if moisture gets underneath it, stains can appear from below. Because sheet vinyl is thin, it can also reveal imperfections in the subfloor, so proper prep matters.

Laminate flooring
Laminate is a durable, floating floor that clicks together for easy installation, similar to luxury vinyl plank (LVP). It's typically a bit thicker than LVP, offering a more solid feel underfoot. Laminate has a high-density fiberboard core, a durable image layer, and a tough wear layer that gives a convincing wood look and good resistance to everyday wear. It's a solid choice for high-traffic residential spaces.
Many laminate products are marketed as water-resistant, but that protection is usually only topical. If water seeps between seams or sits too long, the core can absorb it and swell. That's why we don't recommend standard laminate for bathrooms or basements.

LVP/LVT — floating vinyl plank and tile
Floating vinyl planks (LVP) click together and float over the subfloor without glue or nails. They offer a realistic wood look and are popular for their ease of installation, and they can go over most subfloors as long as the surface is flat and solid.
No subfloor is perfectly level — especially in older homes or those with structural movement — which can eventually impact the locking system. And while LVP is often marketed as waterproof, moisture from below can still lead to warping or shifting over time. LVP tends to have a shorter lifespan than glue-down installations for that reason.

Glue-down plank
Glue-down vinyl planks are installed piece by piece, adhered directly to the subfloor for a stable, long-lasting fit. Unlike floating floors, glue-down is a more permanent solution — a good fit for high-traffic areas and commercial environments with rolling loads or continuous foot traffic. Individual planks can be replaced if damaged, which makes maintenance straightforward.
Glue-down planks use a pressure-sensitive adhesive designed to hold firmly but release if needed. Over time, minor lifting at the seams can occur depending on temperature changes, adhesive type, and heavy loads — that's a normal characteristic, not a defect.

More than just installation
We handle everything that goes into preparing and installing your new floors — flooring removal and disposal, subfloor inspection and preparation, repairs and leveling if needed, and a full clean-up after installation. Getting the prep work right is just as important as the flooring itself, especially with vinyl and laminate.

Vinyl Flooring - frequently asked questions
Vinyl is more water-resistant, making it better for kitchens and bathrooms. Laminate has a thicker core and often feels more solid underfoot.
Vinyl is highly water-resistant, and many products are rated waterproof, but proper installation and subfloor preparation are still important to prevent issues over time.
It can be used in kitchens, but it's not ideal for areas with frequent moisture exposure. Waterproof laminate options are available if the room really needs one.
Most vinyl and laminate installations take 1–2 days depending on the size of the space and prep work needed.
