We use Schluter Systems to help make sure tile installations hold up over time. Products like DITRA and KERDI handle waterproofing, crack isolation, and vapor management — they prevent cracks from transferring from the subfloor to the tile surface, and allow moisture vapor to escape.
For heated floors, DITRA-HEAT combines crack isolation with an integrated electric floor warming system, and works well in bathrooms and kitchens. For showers, the Schluter Shower System combines KERDI waterproofing membranes, KERDI-BOARD for custom shower walls, and KERDI-DRAIN for water drainage — a reliable setup for a waterproof, long-lasting shower.
About porcelain tile
While porcelain tile is scratch-resistant, it can crack if a heavy object is dropped, and some finishes may become slippery when wet — especially in bathrooms or near entryways. It's still one of the more durable, low-maintenance options for a Florida home; we just want you to have the full picture when you're choosing a finish.
